Our SENCO is Ms. Sutton who is responsible for advocating for the needs of all of our pupils who have special education needs and disabilities (SEND).  As a school, we are passionate about supporting every child to thrive. If you would like to speak to Ms. Sutton about your child you can contact her here: senco@cavershamprimary.reading.sch.uk

Here are some of our approaches to supporting our children:

    • Drawing and Talking Therapy: Our Drawing and Talking sessions encourage children to engage in shoulder-to-shoulder activities that promote regulation and low pressure opportunities to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment
    • LEGO Therapy: LEGO therapy is a long-standing intervention designed to promote a variety of communication skills in a group environment. Children are supported to build on their confidence in a cooperative session that encourages turn-taking, sharing, collaboration and problem-solving.
    • Play Therapy: Our Play Therapist works alongside individual children to support them to explore their thoughts, experiences and feelings through play.
    • Sensory Circuits: Sensory circuits takes place every morning. It is an exercise based activity designed for children who find that movement helps them to have a calmer start to their day.
    • Therapy Dog: Yogi is our Therapy Dog. He visits every Tuesday afternoon to support children who benefit from a furry friend to help them feel safe and secure.
